For many exploring hemp-based wellness, the goal isn’t to get high; it is to finally find relief where conventional options have fallen short. Chronic inflammation, sleep disturbances, joint pain, and anxiety are deeply disruptive that interfere with daily life. At Four Winds Farm in Iowa, a significant number of customers encounter cannabis-based wellness for the first time. For many, it is not just a new experience but a last hope before giving up on relief entirely.
“Many people in Iowa aren’t very familiar with cannabis or cannabinoids,” says Megan Booher, Owner and Operator of Four Winds Farm. “We wanted to bring our skill set home and introduce people here to a very non-psychoactive cannabinoid that was very helpful.”
Megan and her husband, Scott Booher, discovered Cannabigerol (CBG), a nonintoxicating cannabinoid naturally low in Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and immediately saw its therapeutic potential.
Unlike CBD, CBG interacts more directly with the body’s endocannabinoid system. “CBG helps harness and uplift anandamide for longer, helping people through stressful and anxious situations,” explains Scott. This functional distinction makes it ideal for first-time users seeking safe, stigma-free relief.
However, introducing hemp in Iowa, a state with limited cannabis familiarity, requires more than just good products; it demands active education. Megan and Scott serve as cultivators, formulators, and educators, meeting customers at farmers' markets, through email consultations, and in-store, where they explain cannabinoids, dosing, and formulation in a digestible and compassionate manner.
Herbalist-Formulated, Customer-Tested
With over eight years of making topical products at a lavender farm and training as an herbalist, Megan takes a multi-ingredient therapeutic approach. Scott, a seasoned grower, tends the fields with a grower’s precision, cultivating hemp and companion herbs in sync with the local climate and soil.
Once harvested in the fall, the hemp flowers are dried, decarboxylated, and gently infused into carrier oils, a slow and controlled process that avoids the use of harsh solvents. Customers can visit the farm, walk the rows, and talk to the product manufacturer firsthand, an experience that builds trust and demystifies hemp wellness.
Megan incorporates ingredients such as lavender, chamomile, calendula, nettles, plantain, St. John’s wort, and marshmallow, each chosen for their targeted effects on inflammation, circulation, and skin health. The result is a therapeutic product where hemp is just one part of a broader, synergistic healing matrix.

Their best-selling body salve, for instance, combines eight essential oils and herbs with CBG to deliver a deeply restorative experience. Customers often describe their experiences with Four Winds Farm products as unexpectedly immediate and deeply restorative. One woman, who had experienced persistent ankle swelling since surgery two years prior, applied the farm’s handcrafted body salve at a community field day and saw her ankle bone for the first time in two years, within minutes.
Additionally, the farm’s oral tinctures address stress, anxiety, and sleep, especially its night spectrum oil, which combines CBG with Cannabinol (CBN) to promote rest without grogginess. Many customers who previously relied on melatonin or prescription options now describe the oil as “gentle, fast-acting, and dependable.”
A Commitment to Quality and Care
While Four Winds Farm remains rooted in broad-spectrum, (most of our products are broad spectrum- only our Full Spectrum gummies and Oil are Full Spectrum) slow-infused herbal products, it also leverages distillates and isolates for select offerings, such as gummies and oils. Anything containing THC is processed off-site in Wisconsin due to Iowa’s regulations.
Regardless of the source or process, all products undergo third-party lab testing to ensure potency, purity, and safety, reinforcing the farm’s commitment to transparency and quality.
What began with just a few products (we’ve always had our current packaging) at farmers markets evolved into a thriving online presence and now a welcoming brick-and-mortar store, where customers can purchase holistic hemp and herbal blends and walk the rows of hemp and communicate with the farmer and manufacturer firsthand. (We’ve never actually taught a class or let people watch the decarboxylating/ manufacturing process. Not that we are opposed to it, but because we are always busy). By blending CBG-rich hemp with time-honored herbal practices, Four Winds Farm offers something increasingly rare: trust. In an unregulated and often confusing market, Megan and Scott have created a place where customers feel heard, informed, and, most importantly, relieved.
